Not much new around here. I'm frantically planning for the next three weeks as I'll be back in prac. My final prac!!
I'll be teaching the grade 8 English class commentaries, the grade 9 SOSE class will be studying the world wars (yeah! Exciting!), the grade 10 class will be looking at catchment systems, the grade 11 English class is doing a unit on heroes and heroines and finally the grade 12 English class will be studying the detective genre.
The only class that I'm sluggish on is the grade 10 SOSE class and the catchment system. I am not a geography major... heck, I'm not even a minor! But here in Australia history (which I know) is lumped in with 100 other subjects, one being geography. As it worked out the grade 10 class is starting a geography unit right when I take over so I'm teaching myself before I go in and teach them. Makes it interesting. Lucky for me I took SOSE last semester and for fun I did my final project on Canadian water systems. For that project I had to do quite a bit of research on Canadian water so I'm hoping I can adapt a bit of that unit to the Australian system. We're all connected by water!
Anyway, back to planning.
