I received this email yesterday and thought you guys would get a kick out of it. This is what life at Rotary is like, threat, after threat, after threat. I pay $170/wk to be harassed by the heads. I'll be glad to leave residence and head home to my nice double bed and no brick walls!!
Please pay attention to what I have to say or it could cost you a lot of money.
The management of Halls of Residents has incured over $40 000 in fees from the Fire Brigade for attending fire alarms so far this year.
This cost will no longer be covered by the Halls if you are found in any way to be the cause of a fire alarm.
In the future if you cause a fire alarm to be set off, even by mistake, you will be liable for the $990 the fire department charges the Halls. You may also be fined a further $250 by the halls of residents for causing an alarm.
So please be very mindful when you are cooking or even putting deodorant on in your room that you do not set off an alarm. The sensors in your room are very sesitive to almost any particles in the air including deodorants, hairspray, sprayon tan and talc powder. The only way to avoid this is to use the bathrooms as they are thermal sensors only detecting increases in temperature and not airborne particles.

So again I warn you not to set off any alarms as you will be liable for up to $1240
If an alarm occurs and someone does not come forward to admit their responsibility then the fee will be divided between the whole floor.
SO PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO SET OFF AN ALARM AS I DO NOT WISH TO CHARGE ANYONE THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY.
The funny thing about this email is at the beginning of the year the residence was having problems with the alarm systems and they were going off ALL THE TIME. Do they think we wanted that? It was not our fault that the system needed maintenance and now we're getting threatened with fines. My floor has never caused a fire alarm but if there ever is one you better believe I'm not paying $1200 for Rotary's horrible fire alarm system.
This place is a joke. Do they really think they can get money from students? Would I be living here if I had money?! **shakes head** Ridiculous.
